The class will cover the formation of Earth, how plate tectonics works, the formation of Maine, our local rocks and glacial impact on our local surface area. There are three classroom sessions, plus one field trip to specifically explore the geology of the Pemaquid Region. The field trip is is scheduled for Saturday, April 12th. It is recommended that you purchase the book – Geology of the Pemaquid Region Mid-Coast Maine; Author David M Pope; 2015 prior to attending class.
After retirement from flying helicopters for the Army, Pete Streker went back to school dual majoring in education and geology. Eventually he earned a Masters of Education for Earth Sciences. He has taught middle school science and high school Earth/Space Sciences and is a certified Physical Sciences teacher in Maine. He has had the opportunity to travel to many places on our beautiful Earth with his wonderful wife and daughters exploring cultures, places, and geology. Combining their interests, they do a lot of outdoor recreation and indoor museum exploration.
