Creative Writing Workshop via Zoom – Session 1

This ongoing workshop offers participants an opportunity to get the creative juices flowing, overcome the internal critic, and let heart and soul flow out onto the page! Just as importantly, it also provides a tight knit, supportive community of fellow writers with whom to share the fruits of your labor. The instructor, Elizabeth Potter, will present proven writing prompts and techniques to tickle your muse and coax even the most hesitant voice onto the page.

Elizabeth Potter is a teacher and poet residing in Midcoast Maine. A collection of her poetry “T’ai Chi of Leaves” was released by Moon Pie press in September 2016. Her poems have also been widely published in literary journals both locally and nationally. Elizabeth has been leading creative writing workshops for all ages for the past seventeen years.

Jo-Ann will answer your questions including what Medicare does and does NOT cover, when to enroll, the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement Plans, and which plan is best for you. Following the presentation, Jo-Ann will be available for a question and answer session. The seminar is free and open to the public, but we do ask that you register by calling the Adult Education Office.

Jo-Ann Neal of Allen Insurance and Financial is a licensed insurance agent specializing in Medicare. In 2016, she earned a Benefit Account Manager certification from the National Association of Health Insurance Underwriters and began working with customers on Medicare plans.

The Night Sky

The night sky is full of wonders and mysteries. This course will help unravel some of that mystery as we learn about our solar system, the constellations, and deep sky objects. We’ll discuss the motions of the moons and planets, meteor showers, eclipses, and other interesting sights. The course will include software recommendations for learning the constellations and information about binoculars and telescopes. You don’t need expensive equipment to get started in astronomy; just a little knowledge and clear skies.

Wayne Barber has been involved in amateur astronomy and astronomy education for many years. He’s a member of the local Central Maine Astronomical Society and a lifelong sky-watcher.
